Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping higher education, yet its true potential lies not in automation, but in transforming how adults learn across the lifespan. This keynote explores how AI can move learning beyond static content delivery towards continuous, personalised, and data informed learning journeys, drawing on the development of the iSmartGuide ecosystem at Singapore University of Social Sciences.
Designed for working professionals and diverse learner populations, iSmartGuide integrates generative AI, learning analytics, and human centred pedagogy into a unified learning environment. It enables learners to engage in structured dialogue with AI tutors, receive adaptive feedback, and access curated knowledge across disciplines, while supporting educators with real time insights for timely and targeted intervention.
The keynote will highlight how such systems shift education from episodic teaching to continuous learning, from reactive support to proactive engagement, and from course bounded knowledge to lifelong, interdisciplinary exploration. It will also address critical considerations, including ethical AI use, data governance, and maintaining learner agency in AI mediated environments.
Ultimately, this session invites educators and leaders to rethink the role of universities in an AI driven world, and to consider how technology can be harnessed to build inclusive, scalable, and future ready learning ecosystems.
